Local Support Group Meeting Dates and Speakers

All Parents of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders & Nonverbal Learning Disorders are invited to attend our monthly support/network at the downtown Walnut Creek Barnes & Noble bookstore (upstairs in the Starbucks area) located at 1149 S. Main Street from 7 to 9 pm.  We  meet the second Monday of each month.  Please review this web page http://www.AspergersResource.org to confirm meeting dates and upcoming speaker information.  The purpose of this gathering is to share experiences and provide information to each other in an effort to assist our children in living enriched lives.



NEWS:  Each month an ASD book will be selected and available for parents to purchase at our B&N parent support meetings.  Barnes & Noble will have ordered in advance enough copies for those interested.

Topic:  Will cover Project SEARCH for adolescents with AS and NLD as well as employment opportunities for those with developmental disabilities.  Q&A to follow.

Futures Explored, Lafayette

Our innovative day program, located in the heart of downtown Lafayette, provides training in both work-related and life skills to adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Participants may need help in areas of personal or social skills, or in seeking and holding a job, or both.

Our Supported Employment program places individuals in jobs in the community based on their skills and job readiness. Referrals for job development, job placement and job coaching may include but are not limited to the Regional Centers, directly from the Department of Rehabilitation or can be paid for privately.

This parents group meets at 7 pm on the second Monday of each month - upstairs in Barnes & Noble in Walnut Creek on N. Main Street. Further speaker information will be updated on this web site. http://www.AspergersResource.org

Adult Aspies of San Francisco

To provide a place that offers not only emotional support but also a positive and constructive environment where ADULT(Please excuse all of the capital letters) AS people are encouraged to challenge and apply themselves.  

This group holds meetings at the Fourth Floor Conference Room of the San Francisco New Main Library (100 Larkin Street; cross street Grove Street; next to San Francisco Civic Center).  A conscious effort is being made to provide a place where AS people feel safe, welcome and secure.  Our only request to attendees is that you do not disrupt our meetings.
