Our innovative day program, located in the heart of downtown Lafayette, provides training in both work-related and life skills to adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Participants may need help in areas of personal or social skills, or in seeking and holding a job, or both.

Our Supported Employment program places individuals in jobs in the community based on their skills and job readiness. Referrals for job development, job placement and job coaching may include but are not limited to the Regional Centers, directly from the Department of Rehabilitation or can be paid for privately.

We will have one speaker who is a professional in his/her field each day in technical writing, technical illustration, graphic arts and fine arts. We will learn about different post-secondary programs from vocational to four year schools, learn how to build a portfolio and resume, where and how to network, and much more. Includes lunch and snacks.

Dramatic Arts Class and Performance

This is the one you’ve been waiting for! EvoLibri is teaming up with Pam Lindsay and DeAnna Pursai, founders of CAA, along with Redwood City Parks and Recreation Department, to present a two-week class for budding dramatists, comedians, videographers, scriptwriters…anyone who loves the performing arts!

Work will be on, off, and behind the camera, and everyone will have ample opportunity to try their hands at each. At the end of the camp, we will be hold a performance open to all our friends and families on Friday the 13th at 7 pm in the Veteran’s Center Theater in Redwood City.

Beyond the sheer fun of learning dramatic skills, participants will work on the following areas:

  • Using Body/Voice/Facial Expression to Communicate (expressive and receptive)
  • Mental and Emotional flexibility (imagination, inference and regulation)
  • Collaboration and reciprocity
  • High-level organization/executive functioning (strategizing)

Note: transportation to and from CalTrain in Redwood City to the recreation department may be available if we have enough demand.

Each month, please join in the discussion with Damon Korb, M.D., Neal Rojas, M.D., and other clinicians, at the Center for Developing Minds. Free of charge. Periodically, the chat session will focus on a specfic area of interest, which is noted on the schedule.

The Center for Developing Minds is a multi-disciplinary clinic that provides care for children and young adults who struggle at home and at school with behavior issues, learning difficulties, attention problems, social skill deficits, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, and psychological disorders.

    Opportunities for Children and Young Adults with Special Needs
    • eSoccer, inclusive soccer for special needs and typically developing kids.  Several locations in the Bay Area.  Contra Costa program meets Saturdays from 10-11 am, at Hearst Elementary School, Pleasanton 94566.  For more information, including a streaming video of the program, go to their website, www.e-soccer.info.  This is also a terrific volunteer opportunity for middle and high school aged students who enjoy soccer.  Contact:  Brock Roby at cc-program@e-soccer.infoor 925-931-0765.
    • RADD (Recreational Activities for the Developmentally Disabled), sponsored by the Town of Danville, provides fun times for people with developmental disabilities ages 15+. The program provides a range of activities from meals out at local restaurants, to bowling, to trips to the theatre, basketball and baseball games.     This group holds meetings at the Fourth Floor Conference Room of the San Francisco New Main Library (100 Larkin Street; cross street Grove Street; next to San Francisco Civic Center).  A conscious effort is being made to provide a place where AS people feel safe, welcome and secure.  Our only request to attendees is that you do not disrupt our meetings.
